Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life through her vivid and expansive imagination. Songs were written by her before she knew how to write and read. When she got her first guitar at the age 8, she started performing on radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Her first album was recorded within the same calendar year with Gold Band Records, a small label that was an independent. She made a name for herself locally while still at high school, but wanted to perform on a larger stage. After graduating high school in 1964 she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his television show that was syndicated around the exact time. Parton was hired in 1966. She then she joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 when her solo albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton, after the split of their collaboration with Wagoner was the one to write"I Will Never Love You and made it to No. 1. for the first time in 1974.
