Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the only celebrity to have crossed from country into the mainstream and then to be an international icon of pop culture. Swift left her country roots like they were a second skin revealing that she was arguably the smartest popular singer/songwriter in her generation one that could tap into the zeitgeist make it personal and just as impressively perform opposite. The evidence was clear in her earliest songs especially on the neo tribute of Tim McGraw. On her album Fearless (2008), Swift showed a songwriter getting to understand herself. The album was hugely successful not only in the United States and six of the singles were declared platinum, on top of Top Ten hit songs Love Story and you Belong with Me. But it also performed well around the globe. Swift's second album, Speak Now, released nearly two years following the first one, consolidated this success. It helped propel Swift to the heights of fame. Swift's popularity grew throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift had now established herself in an industry she felt was hers to be. She was on top of the charts even when she dropped her style with her sibling albums Folklore and Evermore in the year 2020.
